MEET

THE HOST

Claire P.

Hi!

I'm first year master's student at Michigan State University in the clinical-track social work program. I received my BASW from MSU in 2018. I've spent the last four years working with and alongside survivors of sexual violence and other forms of interpersonal trauma, and have worked with The Firecracker Foundation, Child and Family Charities, and End Violent Encounters. Clearly, I'm very passionate about this population and plan to continue working with survivors in the future!

I'm also a course assistant for the School of Social Work and I'm currently working on a pilot study through the MSU MSW Research Scholars program. My research is focused on the impact intergenerational sexual violence has on attachment and parenting. I'm also engaged in legislative advocacy regarding Michigan's mandated reporter training policy and institutionalizing trauma-informed curricula for teachers, students, and families.

I'm an avid podcast listener (some of my favorites are My Favorite Murder, Serial, The Moth, and Armchair Expert), so using this platform felt pretty natural. That being said, I was definitely flying the plane while building it and, while it's not perfect, had a wonderful time learning how to record and edit episodes. It felt important to me to have these conversations, but even more important to have them memorialized and available for others to listen to as well!
